TERMS AND CONDITIONS JUNIOR SUMMER COURSES

PAYMENT:

The deposit for the Junior Summer Courses is 650.00€ (non-refundable) and the balance has to be paid at least 5 weeks before the start date of the courses.
Details of host family ARE NOT PROVIDED UNTIL COURSE FEES ARE PAID IN FULL.

CANCELLATION OF FEES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

More than 28 days before the course is due to start: 250.00€ will be retained from the course fees.

Between 28 and 7 days before the course is due to start: 50% of the total fees will be retained.

Less than 7 days before the course begins: 75% of the total fees will be retained.

No refunds will be made for cancellation of courses or accommodation after the due start date. Students are expected to attend all classes during the course.

In exceptional circumstances (e.g. illness/bereavement) some fees may be refunded at the discretion of the management.

 

THE COURSE OFFER:

The course is provided according to the website description for the relevant course town and course type. Any lessons or activities which are included in the package but not used by the student cannot be refunded.

 

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR:

All students are expected to abide by the rules laid down by the school and the families.

If a student's behaviour or conduct is unsatisfactory, he/she will be subject to the school’s disciplinary procedures. A serious breach of conduct or criminal activity will result in expulsion.

In the event of expulsion, fees are not refunded. Additional charges for flights and other costs will not be covered and are the responsibility of the student or, in the case of under-age students, their parents / guardian. It is the responsability of the sudent's parents /guardian to supply full contact details in advance of the course.

 

DRUGS AND ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES:

Any student found in possession of drugs or any illegal substances will be sent home by air immediately at the expense of the parents / guardian of the student.

 

EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS:

Student's are supplied with the necessary materials for their courses except writing materials and exercise books.

 

INSURANCE:

Junior students residing in Andorra, travelling in groups in summer and accompanied by Learn Away staff are insured for the following:

Learn Away can arrange insurance for Junior Students who do not reside in Andorra and are travelling in groups in summer and accompanied by Learn Away staff.

 

MEDICAL INFORMATION:

Any medical, physical or mental conditions, which might affect the student's stay must be disclosed in full at the time of booking. If any relevant information is not fully disclosed, the school has the right to send the student home at the student's expense.

 

ACCOMMODATION:

Should a student wish to change family, we will do so after giving due consideration and in discussion with both student and family. Accommodation is offered subject to availability and should be booked well in advance, especially at high season. For the Junior Summer Courses, bedrooms might be shared with a family member or with another student of a different nationality and language.

 

PUBLICITY MATERIALS:

With the acceptance of these terms and conditions, permission is given by the student or their parents or legal guardian, for the use of student comments or testimonials and photographs / images of students in the official promotional material for Learn Away, WELC or WEC unless notification is given in writing before the beginning of the course.

 

LEGAL NOTICE:

Learn Away reserves the right to change the details of its services, including courses, facilities and course dates where circumstances beyond the company’s control necessitate such changes or where the number of enrolments is not enough to operate a course viably. The right is also reserved to decline any person at any time without liability. Learn Away reserves the right to cancel any arrangements or bookings without prior notice if payment conditions are not met.

Should any unexpected delays or cancellations incur expenses which are refused reimbursement by the insurance company or airline company, it is the responsibility of the student's parents or guardian to cover these costs (hotel, flights or other services).

Learn Away shall not be liable for any injury, damage, loss, illness, accident, delay or irregularity to persons or property which may be occasioned either by reason of any defect in any vehicle or through the acts of default of any company or persons engaged in conveying the passenger, or in carrying out the arrangements of the programmes, or otherwise in connection therewith or of any family member, whether during transport, activities or accommodation. No responsibility is accepted for losses or additional expenses due to delays or changes in sea, rail, bus or other services, sickness, weather, war, quarantine, strikes or other liability.

All arrangements in Ireland and United Kingdom for transport, activities or for accommodation are made by WELC (Ireland) or WEC (UK) as an agent upon the express condition that they shall not be liable for any injury, damage, loss, illness, accident, delay or irregularity to persons or property which may be occasioned either by reason of any defect in any vehicle or through the acts of default of any company or persons engaged in conveying the passenger, or in carrying out the arrangements of the programmes, or otherwise in connection therewith or of any family member, whether during transport, activities or accommodation. No responsibility is accepted for losses or additional expenses due to delays or changes in sea, rail, bus or other services, sickness, weather, war, quarantine, strikes or other liability.

 


 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS ACADEMIC COURSES

BOOKING AND PAYMENT:

School Term and School Year courses should be booked 3 to 9 months before the start date to ensure availability.

 

PAYMENT FOR TERM OR YEAR STUDENT:

Term student: deposit 1,150.00 € on application.
Year student: deposit 2,150.00 € on application.
NB:
150.00 € is non-refundable for adminstration costs.
The deposits 1,000.00 € or 2,000.00 € is only reimbursed if no place is offered.
50% of the fees are due on confirmation of a School place.
The final balance is due before the end of June of the previous school year.

Fees are payable in advance and no course may be started until payment provision has been approved.

Applications are accepted from September to mid-March of previous academic year for full year or Term 1 students. Applications for full year or term 1 received after this date incur a 250.00 € additional admin fee. Applications for Term 2, Term 2&3 and Term 3 should be made 8 to 12 weeks before start date. On receipt of the relevant documentation & initial deposit, WELC will proceed to place student in school. Once a school place is offered, we will issue an invoice of fees due including payment schedule. In all cases, fees must be paid in full before start of any course as set out below in payment schedules:

Term 1 extension: If a student wishes to extend Term 1 course to full academic year, we must be informed of this no later than mid-October. Full year fees will be due before end of October with additional handling fee of 750.00 €.

School places are confirmed typically from February to end May for courses starting end of August or in October/November for courses starting in January and in February/March for courses starting after Easter holidays.

Details on host families are communicated once fees have been paid in full and no later than 4 weeks before start of course.  Boarding/Private school places are subject to formal offer at time of application - offers are made typically within 2 to 4 weeks from application.

NOTE: Timelines to confirm school place are indicative and subject to early receipt of application and are also subject to each schools’ admissions policy. Early application is recommended as students are placed on waiting list on first come first serve basis. If a specific school is requested, timeframes may vary in accordance with school admission's policy. It is advised that applications for the academic year are received in October to mid-March of previous academic year.

HOLIDAYS:

The WELC school is open all year except for two weeks at Christmas and on public holidays. Local public holidays are non-refundable if they occur during the course.

Long-term students (on courses 16 weeks+) who want to take holidays should plan their holidays before they book their course. Holidays cannot be taken mid-week. Holiday provision is made at the discretion of the management.

School Term students and School Year students will need appropriate medical, travel and personal insurance, which can be arranged by Learn Away. EU Nationals should bring E111 Forms or an EHIC.
